Alternative Abstract
Use of chemotherapeutic drug against cancer disease is increasing nowadays. In this work we employed natural polyphenol drug curcumin as a chemotherapeutic drug towards sub-maxillary carcinoma cell (A-253). Injectable hydrogel systems had drawn increasing observance for the capable use in a broad range of biomedical applications. Curcumin is hydrophobic in nature with multifunctional characteristics like anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and increase immune system; however the relative bioavailability of curcumin is major matter. To minimize the stability problem curcumin loaded PLGA microcapsule having 40-45 µM was prepared using mono nozzle ultrasonic atomizer. For effective release of curcumin from curcumin loaded microcapsule 5% tween solution was used which showed 35% release rate within 20 days. Similarly, in vivo histological analysis and apoptosis staining process exhibited that curcumin drug along with natural hydrogel has significant suppressive action against head and neck cancer cell line. Finally, from the results controlled and effective release of curcumin drug from curcumin loaded microcapsule and natural hydrogel consist of tumor inhibition activity within a desired time without any side effect and toxicity.
