Alternative Abstract
This dissertation focuses on methods of self-adaptive WLAN based D2D communication for providing reliable IoT services and applications. Based on the development of embedded systems, smart object connection becomes popular and various future IoT service applications are expected to rise. According to IoT trends, WLAN based D2D communication technology has become an emerging technology as a key technology of IoT connectivity to support future IoT applications. Even though there are many WLAN based D2D studies to enhance the network performance, the current WLAN based D2D technologies are not enough to provide future IoT services. It is because future IoT services have different requirements and resource demands depending on the type of service they provide. Therefore, new tailor-made WLAN based D2D IoT connectivity solution is required to be satisfied future IoT services. This dissertation analyze problem of current IoT connectivity technologies and provides new solutions. Proposed solutions are analyzed via mathematical analysis, simulation, and implementation to show that the contributions in this dissertation can greatly enhance the self-adaptive WLAN based D2D communication as a key IoT connectivity technology. In particular, this dissertation proposed three enhanced IoT connectivity schemes. 1) Enhancing scalability, 2) Adaptive channel utilization, 3) Supporting reliability and QoS. Through the enhanced proposed schemes, advanced IoT connectivity technologies are expected improving IoT service quality.
