Alternative Abstract
This research will review one of the hottest issues in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of world trade cooperation. The accession of Uzbekistan to the WTO is one of the most important issues to the economy of state and the country as a whole because it's not easy for the very young state as Uzbekistan to compete with developed countries in the world trade system even when there are a lot of privileges and benefits provided by the World Trade Organization. There is always the risk of developing very fast or getting down in terms of economy, and this depends on the right chosen policy from the side the state. It's risky because there are several examples of the stagnation in economy of the state after becoming the member of the WTO. That is why I decided to research this issue and desired to find out the appropriate way and details for my country in the process of becoming the member of the WTO, of course, taking in accordance the practice and experience of the other young member ? states, especially the CIS countries. The goal of this research is to evaluate any possible benefits and costs of WTO accession of Uzbekistan. In order to achieve it, this study will review the current economic situation in Uzbekistan, its trade policy, and measures undertaken by the Government of Uzbekistan as part of the process of accession to the World Trade Organization. Particularly, this paper has attempted to analyze the foreign trade regime of the country, and provide some ideas related to new issues discussed within the World Trade Organization. Such facts will be reviewed as the main aspects of trade policy implemented by Uzbekistan over the last 10 years, the foreign trade regime of the country, an assessment of the progress made by Uzbekistan in its access to the WTO. Some recommendations will be given in the end of this research.
