Alternative Abstract
The Venezuelan distributed energy sector is mainly composed of a diesel generator to provide energy to isolated areas. This study will focus on introducing renewable generation sources to the conventional distribution energy system in Venezuela and analyze the results of optimizing that system into microgrids. Considering the idea of taking advantage of our natural resources, the proposed model will implement renewable energy sources in the already distributed generation system located in the archipelago of “Los Roques” on the coasts of Venezuela.
The proposed optimization system aims for the positive influence they could produce to the government or private institutions that manage any current distributed generation by doing the feasibility study. In the first part of the study, we will evaluate the natural resources of the selected area to improve the system and the local consumption of the community who inhabit the archipelago. We will also consider the renewables sources for the model near the equator (in an average-temperature zone with abundant natural resources). We will evaluate the best option for optimizing the system by measuring the energy production by every source, the comparisons of the actual system versus the proposed one, and the behavior of the renewable components such as the photovoltaic panel, inverters, and energy storage system. In the second part of the proposed study, we plan to visualize and analyze the data generated from the optimized model and study the advantages or disadvantages it may carry. Considering the results, we could evaluate the feasibility of the design and implementation of this kind of improvement in different areas of the country or Latin America.
This study is a specific configuration and continuation of previous studies and researchers, intended for physical implementation and system optimization in developing countries with high-quality natural resources.
