Alternative Abstract
Over the past two decades, the sustainability of transport system has been highlighting as critical component in addressing the environmental challenges such as climate change and GHG emissions. Globally transportation sector is the main contributors to this environmental problem. As a result, the impacts of new vehicle technologies are assessed as the first step towards a long-term future policy for the transport sector. In Palestine, it is difficult to establish future goals or plans due to lacks of data for the transportation sector and lack of research that addresses new technology (such as HEVs) and the long-term impacts for this technology. However, this study will examine and explore the Palestinian transportation sector and the economical, energy and environmental impact of introducing HEVs into transportation sector, in addition to their implications for addressing global climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. Key scenarios will be modeled and simulated, such as the scenario for the introduction the HEVs in the transport sector, and these models will be compared to the baseline scenario (without introducing of HEVs in transport sector). The modeling and simulation of the scenarios will be analyzed by using EVIEWS to perform this analysis. In addition to an environmental and Economical Evaluation for the future impacts on transportation sector, and analysis the impact of HEVs. I will then analyze and compare and estimate current and, future (2020, 2030) GHG emission. This study contributes a better understanding of the conditions at play supporting transition policies for potential transport technology - HEVs. The diffusion of HEVs, like other transformative technologies, is an outcome of socio-technical, economic, and political factors. The analysis advances understanding the impact of HEVs in Palestinian transportation sector and to assist policies makers to support alternative to IEC vehicles and promote their use, through subsidies and tax incentives, in addition, the implications for addressing GHG and climate change and how it helps to achieve the NDC target for GHG reduction.
