Abstract
Alternative Abstract
This study purposed to present plans for effective management of water quality in rivers through the assessment of basin parameters based on analyses on characteristics of pollutants occurrence and discharge, local characteristics, and runoff ratio by watershed in rivers in the region of Nonsan. Based on the boundary of the junction of rivers, the whole water systems in the region of Nonsan were divided into 34 watersheds, and an examination was made on pollutants occurrence and discharge load by watershed. Through this examination, the possible amount of reducing pollutants by environmental facilities and measures to reduce them were presented. In addition, pollution of water quality on 30 spots in total on the terminal part of watershed was measured, and flux and changes in water quality of watersheds were investigated. A net runoff ratio by watersheds was calculated and the net runoff ratio and a reduction ratio by self-purification of water were compared and analyzed. By considering correlation between flow distance, flux, and the drift of a current, which are influential factors on the runoff ratio, this study purposed to grope for methods of reducing pollutants using self-purification function of rivers.
