Alternative Abstract
Cameroon is endowed with natural resources but despite her riches, it is still underdeveloped. This paper seeks to explain how the Cameroon government like every other government in the world is striving to see into it that her nation becomes developed even though development is a continuous process. The paper affirms that laws were enacted and implemented to in order to bring the administration closer to the people with the granting of autonomy and empowering others through the process of decentralization. On this basis, this paper assesses the development problems in Cameroon, despite the process of decentralization; Cameroon remains underdeveloped do to the problems of corruption, centralization and the concentration of power in the hands of one. These have affected development. This paper also shows attempted solutions by the government to remedy these problems. Such includes the putting in place of the Elecam, the setting up of CONAC as well as the setting up of the criminal court in Yaoundé which judges all those who are found guilty of corruption.
