Alternative Abstract
ABSTRACT. This study is designed to show how soft power may have influenced international politics taking into consideration its application by China to Cameroon and its effects on the CEMAC region in Africa. The effects of its applicability will show how Chinese infrastructure to Cameroon has influenced development in Cameroon and free trade in the region. The study will also show the evolution of free trade and some efforts made by Africa in general and CEMAC in particular towards establishing free trade inspired by the Washington consensus. To do this, the research will focus on official development assistance programs with particular attention to infrastructures as tools to measure the success or failure of the use of soft power by China within the region.
