Abstract | ABSTRACT The decades of violence in Niger delta region has provoked a few activities aimed at addressing the causes of conflict in the region. Despite the commitments of the initiatives, the outbreak seems to have persisted which focuses to the way that the initiatives have failed in resolving issues in the Niger delta. This prompted the introduction of the amnesty programme by the late president yar’adua administration. The designated amnesty programme has become a road map in restoring peace in the region. However this study tries to research on conflict management by concentrating on amnesty programme as the case study. The study has two objectives, research questions and hypothesis. The study was divided into four chapters, chapter on focus on background of the study, in addition problem statement, research questions, hypothesis, significance and scope of the study, chapter two viewed theoretical framework on greed and grievance theory of conflict while chapter three dealt with conceptual clarification on the DDR policy showing how reintegration is the most important part of the amnesty programme. Finally chapter four explored review in literature coupled with other theories of conflict/conflict resolution, summary, conclusion and recommendation based on the findings. | - |
