Brain drain in Vietnam has been becoming the serious issue these days. For several years, Vietnamese government and researchers have been struggling on tracking down main reasons and solutions. However, the old problem has not yet been dealt but the new has about to come out. Many Vietnamese students are trying all the ways to leave Vietnam for studying abroad with a desperate hope to be a new citizen of new country, or, at least, they do not have to return to Vietnam. It is so obvious throughout years by many social surveys and studies. Even most of those who are studying or living in the other countries stated that they do think about returning. The campaigns which were adopted to figure out the problem usually are trying to point out the reasons of socioeconomic stage, working conditions, salary, security, public infrastructure, social unfairness, and low social awareness. These are actually external factors that directly control and affect people’s decision in many situations. However, looking back, Vietnamese American who are living in Vietnam always head their heart to Vietnam. They always expect for the positive changes of Vietnam in many factors and willingly return to Vietnam for contributing. Many Vietnamese students who are studying around the world with many significant and certificated achievements agree to return to Vietnam. Moreover, Vietnamese socioeconomic has been improving properly that attracted many FDI funds and investments from many countries around the world. Then the main reason may be more than external factors. The question was raised about whether the existence of internal factors on student’s intentions to return or to remain after studying abroad. They themselves either want to return or to remain by their own orientation. The most influent orientation has been proven to be the essential factor on maintaining and deviating individual’s decision and conceptions. In this thesis, I try to focus on Collectivism and Individualism. Then for many cases studying abroad, marital status can be the significant distraction of relationship between value orientation and intention to return to source country of international students. In this thesis, Vietnamese graduate students are the main object for this thesis and I am trying to figure out the relationship of value orientation and intention to return to Vietnam under the moderating of marital status.-
