Abstract | This research tries to find the root causes of the lack of development and the failure of the international donors and development related institutions in Afghanistan. I made efforts to describe and analyze the recent history of development related activities in Afghanistan after the fall of Taliban-led government and how and why these efforts largely failed to achieve the expected results. One of the main reasons, as I argue in this work, is the inappropriate method and approach to the situation in the country. Moreover, most donor countries and organizations did not harmonize their aid delivery policies which resulted in the failure of the programs. Central argument in the work at hand implies that neoliberal approach to the modern development issues is not giving the expected results and the organizations supporting this approach need to adjust their policies instead of adjusting countries for their own benefit or comfort. So it is interesting to view the alternative approach to the same problem in the face of classic liberalism ideas. With the support of my supervisor, I made an attempt to address the modern development issue with ideas that go back to the 18th century. | - |
