Abstract | This paper studies the problem of methodologies for damage estimation or assessment on building targets during fire weapon systems attack. Damage estimation is very important information for next phase military operation. In order to perform next phase operation the military should estimate the damage of targets which are composed of soldiers and weapons, and the military facilities. So many efforts were concentrated for developing estimation methodologies. The method used herein is a comparative analysis, between single sortie probability of damage(SSPD) and expected fractional damage(EFD). In order to estimate damage of target, we need damage criteria, which are defined by target types as men, weapons and facilities. And damage estimation is inflicted by target vulnerability, weapon lethality and delivery accuracy, etc. In this way we can calculate fractional damage or probability of damage. And there are some differences in method and result between the way of consideration the building target as unitary targets or area of targets. So this paper tried general damage estimation methodologies to the building targets and comparatively analyzed 2 ways of methodologies. The 2 ways are single sortie probability of damage(SSPD) which is the methodology of single weapons against unitary targets, and expected fractional damage(EFD) which is the methodology of single weapons directed against on area of targets. This paper comparatively analyzed the estimation of damage results(EFD & SSPD) by the variance of mean area of effects for buildings() and delivery accuracy(CEP : Circular Error Probable). And analyzed the results SSPD and EFD by the variance of hight of the buildings and the angle of impact as a condition between weapon and target. At the conclusion the paper compared the results(SSPD & EFD and required munition) of bigger building target than the and smaller. The obtained result is follows, expected fractional damage(EFD) is more suitable than single sortie probability of damage(SSPD) on building targets damage estimation. The proposed EFD methodology enables not only the military planners and weapon developers to do a better solution, but also to do force planning and weapon development by simulation based acquisition. As a result this dissertation suggested more correct methodology for estimation of building target damage and the methodology used for more correctly for military operation in NCOE, force planning and simulation based acquisition(SBA). | - |
