dc.description.alternativeAbstractThis thesis presents the interference effect characteristics of intersecting SAWs. SAW interference effect device consists of four IDTs on a 128°YX-LiNbO3 substrate. 128°YX-LiNbO3 substrate propagates Rayleigh wave parallel to the x axis and dominant SH wave perpendicular to the x axis. When SAW is propagated from an input to an output IDT, the interference waves intersect perpendicularly and interfere with the SAW at the delay line. The result of the characteristic test with a network analyzer shows that the interference decreases the center frequency of frequency response between the input and the output IDTs. The center frequency shift linearly increases with the increase of the frequency or the power of the interfering waves. Also, the center frequency shift increases with increasing the center frequency of the interfered SH wave. These characterization results of the interference of two intersecting SAWs will be helpful in the design of the SAW gyroscope using interference effect.-
